How to Choose the Right Industrial Radio Remote Control: A Practical Guide

Choosing an industrial radio remote control is not just about counting buttons. The correct system must match the machine, control logic, receiver voltage, operating environment and safety requirements.

This practical guide explains the key points buyers should confirm before ordering a wireless remote control for a crane, electric hoist, truck tail lift, winch or industrial machine.

Quick Selection Guide

Application Typical Functions Suggested HZBOY Series
Electric hoist or simple winch 2–4 single-speed functions F21-2S, F21-4S, Mini Series
Truck tail lift or vehicle equipment 2–4 compact controls M2, M4
Overhead or gantry crane 6–12 functions F21-E1B, F23 Series, F24 Series
Dual-speed lifting equipment Two-stage push buttons F24 Series
Complex machinery Multiple outputs or joystick control F24-20S, F24-60A or customized system

1. Start With the Machine and Required Functions

First identify the equipment and list every movement the operator must control. A basic electric hoist may only need UP and DOWN, while an overhead crane may require UP, DOWN, EAST, WEST, NORTH, SOUTH, START, STOP and an alarm.

Button quantity is not always the same as the number of working outputs. Some buttons may be assigned to start, stop, speed selection, emergency stop or auxiliary equipment. The transmitter layout and receiver relay configuration should therefore be checked together.

2. Choose Single-Speed or Dual-Speed Control

A single-speed button sends one command when pressed. It is suitable for simple hoists, winches, tail lifts and machines that operate at one commanded speed.

A dual-speed button has two stages. A light press activates the first speed, while a deeper press activates the second speed. This provides more precise lifting and positioning control. HZBOY F24-6D, F24-8D, F24-10D and F24-12D are designed for applications requiring dual-speed operation.

3. Confirm Voltage, Frequency and Working Distance

The receiver must match the control power available on the machine—not simply the main motor voltage. Common options include DC 12V, DC 24V, AC 24V, AC 110V, AC 220V and AC 380V. Depending on the model, HZBOY supplies DC 12–24V or AC/DC 24–450V receiver configurations.

HZBOY industrial remote controls commonly operate at 433 MHz, with 315 MHz, 868 MHz and VHF options available on selected models. When several wireless systems work in the same facility, frequency and ID management help prevent interference.

Standard operating distance is usually about 100–150 meters in an open environment. Selected models can be configured for approximately 300 meters under suitable conditions. Metal structures, buildings, interference and receiver installation position can affect the actual range.

4. Check the Working Environment and Safety Requirements

Industrial controls may be exposed to dust, rain, oil, vibration, impact and frequent dropping. Many HZBOY models provide IP65 protection, but buyers should still select the enclosure and control design according to the real environment.

Some machines use a standard STOP button, while others require a rotary emergency stop. The remote-control receiver must also be integrated correctly with the machine safety circuit. Installation and wiring should be completed by qualified personnel.

5. Confirm Receiver Outputs and Wiring

Two transmitters with the same number of buttons can have different receiver wiring. Before ordering, confirm:

  • Number and function of relay outputs
  • Common wires and interlocking logic
  • Normally open or normally closed contacts
  • Receiver voltage and relay capacity
  • Required button labels and operating sequence

For customized projects, sending the machine wiring diagram or photos of the existing control panel is often the fastest way to identify a suitable configuration. HZBOY supports customized wiring, programs and OEM/ODM requirements.

Which HZBOY Series Should You Choose?

  • F21 Series: simple to medium-complexity hoists, cranes and automation equipment.
  • F23 Series: cranes, hydraulic machines and systems requiring more functions or flexible relay configurations.
  • F24 Series: dual-speed cranes, multi-function lifting equipment and joystick applications.
  • Mini Series: rechargeable Type-C controls for tail lifts, winches, vehicles and compact machinery.
  • Lunar Series: durable handheld controls for factory and industrial machinery environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I replace only the transmitter?

Yes, replacement transmitters are available for many HZBOY models. The new transmitter must be correctly matched or paired with the receiver.

Can one transmitter control multiple receivers?

Standard systems are normally paired as one transmitter and one receiver. Customized one-to-many or many-to-one control may be possible depending on the required logic.

Can HZBOY customize the remote control?

Yes. Available OEM and ODM options include logos, button labels, control programs, receiver voltage, frequency and wiring configuration.
